In March, for the first time, a surplus of almost 32 million euros
The budget deficit for the first three months of this year was reduced to 22 million euros or 0.4 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), while a surplus of 31.9 million euros was realized in March, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry said that the first quarter was marked by good collection of revenues, realized in the amount significantly above the planned, while almost all categories of expenditures were realized in the amount lower than planned.
"According to the above, the budget deficit for the three months of this year was reduced from one percent in the first two months to 0.4 percent of the estimated GDP, and amounted to 22 million euros," the statement said.
The deficit is 115.1 million euros or 83.9 percent lower than planned, while compared to the same period last year it is 81.2 million euros or 78.7 percent lower.
"At the same time, in March this year, there was a surplus of the state budget in the amount of 31.9 million euros or 0.6 percent of GDP, which is the first time that a positive budget result was recorded in this month. The achieved result is better by 47.8 million euros, while in relation to the deficit achieved in March last year, it is better by 42.2 million euros," said the Ministry.
