No cases of flurona have been reported
For now, in Montenegro there is no suspicion of any flurona case, ie of a combined infection with influenza and corona, Director of the Institute of Public Health Igor Galic said.
“We follow the flu season with our standard procedures. That’s the reason vaccination against influenza is proposed. It wouldn’t be a surprise if something like that happened in our country as well. If there are such cases, we will inform the public ", Galic said during the TVCG show ”Jutarnji Program”.
He said that the end of pandemics depends on the vaccination.
He considers it a fortune that for now primary health care workers and those who deal with diagnostics endure the most of the burden.
"There was a sudden exponential jump in the number of infected, but the number of deaths and hospitalizations does not follow that number for now," Galic said.
He believes that previous measures have yielded results.
"It is unimaginable what would have happened if bans on New Year's celebrations had not been introduced," he said.
Hospital admissions increased by 12 percent compared to the previous period.
"Fortunately, that growth does not follow the sudden growth of the number of new patients," he said.
