MUGOSA ANNOUNCED
CG invests very little in agriculture, next year bigger investments
The State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Budimir Mugosa, assessed that Montenegro invests very little in agriculture in recent years, that is, only one percent of the budget comparing to the European Union (EU) which allocates 40 percent. That is why they will make an effort to invest much more in agriculture next year.
In the ‘Dobro jutro Crna Goro’ show on TVCG, he reminded how there is constant talk about agriculture, which, along with tourism, is a strategic branch: "And all the talk about agriculture ends there, and we continue to talk about tourism".
He is aware, he says, that both in the world and in Montenegro, agriculture is an unattractive occupation, which also shows in the record low number of enrolled students.
Without investment, as he said, it cannot be expected to enter into some larger agricultural production: "We have many acute problems that we are solving these days. We have issued a large number of calls for the agricultural budget, which was conceived as it was conceived".
Mugosa also says that the payment of subsidies will begin on August 1.
He points out that Montenegro does not have a single product in which it is self-sufficient: "We import from 10 to 90 percent of all agricultural products. Therefore, everything will be bought, because we do not have production."
