FATHER NENAD
I still believe Matej is alive
It is the sixth day of the search in Belgrade for Matej Peris from Split who disappeared on New Year's Eve in front of the nightclub ‘’Gothic’’ by the Sava river.
Matej's father Nenad Peris told "Jutarnji list" that the police found a taxi driver who can be seen on one of the security camera footage.
In that shot you can see Peris running through the streets of Belgrade in a T-shirt, and then approaching a taxi and trying to enter.
It seemed as if he and the taxi driver had exchanged a few sentences, after which Peris walked away from the vehicle and continued on.
"I still believe that Matej is alive and until someone convinces me otherwise I will behave that way. Although, as the time passes, my feeling that he is still alive and that he is somewhere, diminishes. I constantly check if his mobile is switched on. My son was independent, he was not a smoker, he had a programmed life. He came to Belgrade to celebrate the New Year with friends and now we are where we are. He was a good guy. Sorry, I speak in the past," says Matej’s father Nenad Peris.
Matej disappeared on the night between December 30 and 31 in Beton hall, where, together with his friends, he was at the "Gothic" club.
According to his father, he ordered a bottle of drinks, which he paid for, and then left the club.
He was thought to have gone in search of a toilet, but then footage emerged from the security cameras of other bars showing Peris running.
On one of them you can see how he descends the steps to the pontoon near the Savanova restaurant and every trace of him is lost there. Divers searched the area yesterday but did not find Peris.
His friends, after a police polygraph examination, returned to Croatia.
