RUN FOR PRESIDENT

Djukanovic and Becic have highest support

Leaders of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and Democratic Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic and Aleksa Becic, are the best candidates in the presidential elections according to a survey on political public opinion led by the Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CEDEM).

The CEDEM Director Milena Besic announced that Djukanovic had an initial advantage over possible common opposition candidate in the presidential election.

If the opposition had a common candidate in the presidential election, and the ruling coalition nominated Djukanovic, 34.3 per cent of the citizens would vote for Djukanovic and 28.8 per cent for a common opposition candidate, said Besic.

The survey, which was conducted in December last year, showed that opposition voters support the common candidate with a strong majority.

Besic said that the majority of citizens believe that Djukanovic and Becic are the best candidates in the presidential elections, followed by Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic, Dusko Markovic and Dritan Abazovic.

She said that most citizens still believe that Montenegro is heading the wrong way, and that this trend of confidence is on the rise.

47% of citizens is dissatisfied with the work of the government, but compared to June last year, according to Besic, trust in all institutions is growing, except for the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Besic said that citizens trust most the education system, and the least the Montenegrin Orthodox Church.

When it comes to the work of the ministries, the best rates got education and sports departments.
