BOARD TO THE ASSEMBLY

Submitted proposal for Vukcevic’s dismissal

The Administrative Committee today submitted to the Parliament proposal for the dismissal of Nikola Vukcevic as a member of the Council of Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG).

On October 12, the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption submitted to the Administrative Board a decision establishing that Vukcevic, as a public official, violated the Law on Prevention of Corruption in connection with the Law on National Public Broadcaster RTCG.

"While performing the public function, in June 2016 he gained material benefit on the basis of the Contractual relationship with the company "Galileo Production" DOO Podgorica, whose activity is the production of films, video materials and TV programs, thus subordinating public interest to private and causing a conflict of interest," the decision says.

According to the Law on Prevention of Corruption, Vukcevic, as a public official, was obliged to take measures to resolve conflict of interest and to report the existence of a conflict of interest to the Agency which gives an opinion on it.

At the session of the Administrative Committee Vukcevic stated that he directed the documentary film for the needs of independent film production, and received the intended directing/authoring fee.

As he said, the project was funded from independent sources and had nothing to do with the RTCG, moreover the documentary was not broadcasted on RTCG or any other TV station because it was not intended for such purpose.

The Agency for Prevention of Corruption, he believes, misconstrued that he made harm to public interest by mistaken and incompletely established interpellation of the factual situation.
