Ivanovic’s Party Criticises Kosovo Police Over Murder Probe

The party led by murdered Kosovo Serb politician Oliver Ivanovic claimed that Kosovo police have “obviously no will” to find the killers because no information about the investigation has been revealed yet.

Ksenija Bozovic, the spokesperson for the Freedom, Democracy, Justice party, criticised Kosovo police for allegedly not revealing any details about the investigation into the murder last month of the party’s leader, Oliver Ivanovic.

“ To this day we have learned no details from the investigation, despite constantly calling the investigative unit in Mitrovica and the police director in Pristina,” Bozovic told BIRN.

Ivanovic was shot on the morning of January 16 in front of his party office in the northern Kosovo town of Mitrovica, and died soon afterwards in hospital. His murder has been widely condemned by EU, Serbian and Kosovo officials.

Serbia and Kosovo pledged to exchange information on the investigation, but since then the two sides have accused each other of lacking the will to cooperate.

“We see this bickering in the media… It makes us hurt even more,” Bozovic said.

She claimed that the murder investigation was “sloppy” from the start because it took the police “almost 20 minutes” to arrive at the scene.

She added however that Ivanovic’s family still have hope that the murderer will be identified.
