ABAZOVIC SAID
"Europe now" remains, easy to propagate populism
The Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazovic said that the "Europe now" program remains in force, but also added that it is easy to propagate populism and much harder to create a new value.
Commenting on the announcement of the Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanovic on the possible need for the essential budget rebalance during July, Abazovic stated that it is a responsible approach that the finance minister has.
"I want to say that it is very easy to propagate populism and speak about spending the money, but it is much harder to create a new value and make a situation to earn money. In order to spend anything we first must create money. I think this approach was not present earlier and I‘m glad that the Minister of Finance wants to explain the situation as it is. We said we want to keep the program "Europe now", that we will service everything in time. For that to happen there has to be a clean balance. Those obligations we did not paid in previous years must come for a billing at one time," said Abazovic in Davos, answering the questions of RTCG journalist.
The Prime Minister says that analyses and a long-term or medium-term plan on how the state can set healthy foundations and continue economic reform need to be made.
"But that it does not cause any major negative earthquakes in the country," Abazovic said. He said it was necessary to attract quality investors, invest in infrastructure, and that tourism remains a priority.
