We suffer price jumps because we do not have our own production

Economic analyst PredragDrucun says that in Montenegro we are doomed to suffer price jumps because we do not have our own production. If you do not have a real sector and your own production you have to import basic foodstuffs and you also import inflation with the product, there is nothing unexpected there, said Drecun.

In the morning program of the Television of Montenegro Drecun said that every January 1 we could talk about price increases because there are price jumps every year.

He sees the ‘’Europe Now’’ program as a good shock absorber of inflation, but, as he adds, in real terms, it exceeds the amounts of inflation that can lead to a decrease in real earnings.

"Well, it won't be 100 euros effectively, but 85 or 90 euros, because 10% will be 'eaten' by inflation. But it's better this way than it has been so far," Drecun points out.

He says he believes in the "Europe Now" program.

"I myself have advocated for such a lowest price of labor. We are masters at finding loopholes in the law, but I hope the government will find a way to prevent this," Drecun said.

About how much the ‘’Europe Now’’ program can now amortize inflation and help citizens, Drecun says it is the biggest help to lower-income citizens.

"If someone received 250 euros, they will now receive 450. So, there is a good 'buffer' where a citizen can even borrow from banks," Drecun said.
