PAKISTAN SAID

"Two Indian planes took down and two prisoners captured"

Pakistan’s military said that it shot down two Indian fighter jets that had entered Pakistani airspace, capturing two pilots, in an escalation of hostilities just a day after Indian fighter jets crossed the disputed Kashmir region to launch an airstrike within Pakistan.

The confrontation came a day after India said it launched airstrikes in Pakistan territory in the first such incursion by Indian Air Force planes since the India-Pakistan war of 1971.

Pakistan’s chief military spokesman, Major General Asif Ghafoor, said in a news conference that they captured two pilots. One of two jets fell in the Pakistani part of Kashmir, while the other fell in part controlled by India, he said.
