Various police units have been involved in safeguarding Putin - Vega and Cobra special units, ordinary cops, as well as army which will control the Vienna airspace.

Putin's route is kept secret for security reasons.
The President of Austria, Alexander van der Bellen, will receive, with military honor, his Russian colleague.

Putin will also meet Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Deputy Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache.
