Charges against MUP officers based on evidence

Criminal charges against officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Directorate suspected of abusing their official position and negligence during the tender procedure for the electronic surveillance of the state border are based on numerous pieces of evidence and secret surveillance measures, said the Deputy Head of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica Nikola Boricic.

Previously, the Police Administration announced that criminal police actions code-named "Border" are underway.According to them, officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro and the Police Administration were detained on suspicion of abusing their official position.

At an extraordinary press conference, Boricic reminded that the Ministry of the Interior submitted the report of a special commission on February 3, and on the same day they formed a case against several people.

"We merged that case with the case of the High Prosecutor's Office, which refers to the same thing. The Basic State Prosecutor’s office continued to work on this case," Boricic stated.

He added that the team of prosecutors carried out the procedure with the officers of the Police Administration, which resulted in reports against several persons.

Deputy Prime Minister DritanAbazovic welcomed the action of the Police Directorate.
