GALIC

Adhere to the measures for another week or they will be tightened

If we have this number of patients for another week the measures will be more rigorous, said the director of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro Igor Galic. He added that it was noticed that citizens from municipalities with high transmission go to restaurants and cafes in other municipalities, so, as he said, today they will try to react in that part, then in the part of inspection controls, but also in another way.

He said as a guest on Radio Montenegro that the epidemic in our country is at a high level since November and that efforts to bring it under control are not successful. He pointed out that many causes have led to this.

"We cannot bring the epidemic under control without citizens, institutions at the local and state level, and without control. The response to the epidemic must be a broad social response," Galic said.

He reminded that the local transmission of the "British strain" was registered and added that it was 50% more transmissible.

"The epidemic is accelerating and that is one of the reasons why the epidemic is at such a high level," Galic said.

He said that the stricter measures in Budva and Tivat gave results, adding that it is an indication for tightening of measures in some other municipalities, because, as he said, the situation is far from stable.

"Preventing the introduction of rigorous measures in other municipalities is possible only by respecting the existing ones in the next week. Otherwise, the measures will be tightened. Certain measures will be more rigorous. We are witnessing a daily situation that compliance with measures in all municipalities is low," said Galic.

He pointed out that military discipline is neededin order to reduce the epidemic to a satisfactory level.
