DIRECTOR PEROVIC CLAIMS
There is no political influence on ASK
The director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perovic, said that since she was appointed to that position in July, no public official has been relieved of responsibility on the basis of membership in a political party, or by any other criteria.
Perovic claims that there is no political influence on the ASK work, and that it is proved and will be proved by indiscriminateness and protection of the public interest.
"The Law on Prevention of Corruption and other laws within the competence of the ASK are applied indiscriminately to everyone, without distinction, and it will remain so," Perovic said in a statement for Dan.
Commenting on possible actions against the highest officials of the former government, Perovic says that every initiative against them submitted to the Agency served as a basis for initiating proceedings ex officio.
"Decisions have been made in these cases or they are in the phase of investigation, and decisions will be made as soon as the legal conditions are met. The agency checks the data related to the property of all public officials, even those who perform the highest functions," Perovic claims.
Speaking about the accusations that she forbade access to the documentation on DPS control in the case of the "Envelope" affair, despite the verdict of the Administrative Court, Perovic points out that she does not see herself as the accused of banning access to the documentation on DPS control in that case.
