MEDENICA

"It was an honor to be at the head of the judiciary"

The President of the Supreme Court, Vesna Medenica, has resigned from that position. She announced that after the General Session of the Supreme Court was held. In accordance with the Law on the Judicial Council and Judges, she requested that her position as a judge and president of the Supreme Court of Montenegro be terminated.

"As I have sincerely, professionally and responsibly treated every open issue in my career so far, I provide the last contribution and personal stamp to resolving the issue of the election of the President of the Supreme Court. For these reasons, acting in accordance with Article 106 of the Law , I ask my function as a judge and president of the Supreme Court of Montenegro to be terminated ", the President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, Vesna Medenica, said after the General Session of the Supreme Court.

She also states that the values she was guided by when she applied for the position of President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro last year were aimed at continuing and improving the independence, autonomy, responsibility, quality, efficiency and transparency of the judiciary.

"I think that the judicial system had already been built during the previous term, and that there was no concentration of power of the president of the court, having in mind his competencies prescribed by the current Law on the Judicial Council and Judges. I am still inclined to that opinion," Medenica said.
