Opening up to Russia will mitigate the effects of the crisis

Enabling the arrival of tourists from Russia and Azerbaijan, with the imminent establishment of air traffic, could start tourist traffic from those markets and mitigate the consequences for the tourism industry due to the corona virus pandemic, believes the director of the National Tourism Organization (NTO) Zeljka Radak Kukavicic.

She announced in the morning program of the Television of Montenegro (TVCG) that the decision to open our country to the markets of Russia and Azerbaijan is good news for the tourist industry.

"Surely, in response to our measures, Russia will allow travelling to Montenegro without additional conditions, which creates preconditions for the establishment of certain tourist traffic during August and September. We all know that the peak season is the period when we predominately have guests from the region, but also of Russia," said Radak Kukavicic.

She reminded of the data from August and September last year, when we had a million, i.e. 500,000 overnight stays of tourists from Russia.

"Our borders are open and I believe that traffic will be established soon, and then in August in September we can expect some tourist traffic from that market and some mitigation of all these consequences," said Radak Kukavicic.
