INTERGOVERNMENTAL CONFERENCE

Chapter 8 to be opened on June 29th

Montenegro has been given the green light by EU member states to open the only remaining negotiating chapter 8 - Competition.

Daily Pobjeda learns that the Intergovernmental Conference at which this chapter will be officially opened will be held on June 29, most likely in the form of a video conference.

Prime Minister DuskoMarkovic said that by opening Chapter 8, Montenegro has confirmed that it is the country that is the most promising and closest to membership in the European Union.

Representatives of EU countries in the EU Enlargement Council Working Group (COELA) spoke positively about the proposal to open the last negotiating chapter with Montenegro, and it should be confirmed today by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU member states in Brussels (COREPER).
