BRAJOVIC

There is no law that would bring victory to the opposition

Parliament Speaker Ivan Brajovic said that the opposition in Montenegro is aware that the ruling coalition is better off according to all polls, and that there is no legislation that could provide opposition parties with an election victory. He believes that the church issue should have been resolved immediately after the referendum, and says that the government is ready for talks with the opposition, but without blackmail.

Speaking on the morning program of the Television of Montenegro (TVCG), Brajovic said that there is never an idyllic picture between the government and the opposition in the run-up to the elections.

On the occasion of 14 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of Montenegro, he said that 14 years since the referendum, historically, is not a long time, stating that for everything we have done since 2006 "we can be calm and wait for the court of citizens, believing that we have not betrayed them or ourselves."

Asked how he sees Montenegro in five or ten years, Brajovic said he believes it will be tailored to its citizens.

"I think it will be what its citizens want, and citizens have two options: whether to return to a clerical condescending community which will sway in the wind and be guided by the interests of other countries, or continue to build a modern and developed state which is an increasingly desirable tourist destination,"Brajovic said.

Speaking about the political situation in Montenegro in the run-up to the parliamentary elections Brajovic said that formally there is a desire of everyone to talk and find a solution.
