IN THE CAPITAL
Construction of the collector has begun
The construction of the Wastewater Treatment System in Podgorica has begun with the construction of a primary collector worth 6.6 million euros which will connect the current plant with the future one.
"Investing in a new wastewater treatment plant confirms that the Capital follows the Government's development policy and provides conditions for further dynamic development," said Prime Minister Dusko Markovic.
He said that the Capital is continuously developing a healthier and better living environment.
"The government, for its part, will continue to contribute to its construction according to the needs of our citizens," Markovic said.
The mayor of Podgorica Ivan Vukovic said that this project was rightly called the project of the century for the capital.
As he said, it creates preconditions for the long-term development of Podgorica, provides permanent protection of the river Moraca, groundwater and water sources in the Skadar Lake basin.
"With a total value of 50 million euros this project includes four components - a primary collector over 5 kilometers long, whose construction begins today, the construction of a new 20 kilometers of sewerage network which officially starts tomorrow, and the construction of a new bridge on the Moraca river, not far from here, with the expected start in the next two months. The construction of the wastewater treatment plant itself was planned for the beginning of next year," Vukovic said.
