VUKSANOVIC STANKOVIC

Disrespecting the state is unacceptable

Montenegro must grant everyone a democratic right to a different stance, but on the other hand, all those activities that disparage the basic attributes of a state or jeopardize its civic and multiethnic character are unacceptable, the SDP President Draginja Vuksanovic Stankovic said.

Vuksanovic Stankovic met with Czech Foreign Minister special envoy for the Western Balkans Janin Hrebickov, and thanked the Czech Republic for its support to Montenegro on its path to the EU, expressing the expectation that the partnership would be further strengthened in a new phase of integration.
"We are witnessing that, after a long period, enlargement policy is once again the focus of EU political centers, which is a good opportunity to provide new momentum and a stronger impetus to this process, which has been stagnant lately, because of what is happening in the Union itself, and especially because of the lack of political will for real reforms in the countries of the region themselves," said Vuksanovic Stankovic.
Speaking about the developments in Montenegro on the Law on Freedom of Religion, the SDP President emphasized the need to resolve all outstanding issues and misunderstandings through dialogue, pointing to the undisputed right of the state to regulate its internal relations in any field without any interference.
"Montenegro must allow everyone a democratic right to a different stance, but on the other hand, all those activities that disparage the basic attributes of the state or jeopardize its civic and multiethnic character are unacceptable," the SDP president said.
