DJUKANOVIC AND MICHEL

Dialogue is the best way to overcome tension

Dialogue and willingness to understand and resolve tensions peacefully are the best way to overcome them, the president of the European Council Charles Michel and President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic agreed, referring to the current Law on Freedom of Religion.

According to the statement by Djukanovic's cabinet, during his meeting with Michel in Brussels the president of Montenegro expressed satisfaction that Montenegro continues the continuity of good relations and cooperation with the European council.

‘’I think it is very important that the EU leadership meeting with the WB leaders was held, which is another very strong message about the new European administration's commitment to the WB region and to its European perspective.’’Djukanovic said.

‘’Tonight we were talking about a new investment framework being prepared in Brussels, which would be verified at that Summit in Zagreb, and I believe that this is an essential impetus for the development processes of our region. This meeting was an opportunity to share Montenegro’s stance on the current state of relations between the EU and the WB, and Montenegro's view about proposed new EU policies towards the WB,’’president Djukanovic added.

He stressed that the Western Balkans had no viable alternative to the European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

‘’I think that everything that has been done on this topic in recent weeks, everything that has been heard on this topic, really gives reason for optimism, but, as I emphasized at that meeting, we are still  at  the level of declarations, we will see if that which carry optimism will see its further operationalization, and whether implementation will guarantee that we will, in the true sense of the word, revive the enlargement process and regain the credible perspective of the WB countries' membership in the EU,’’ Djukanovic concluded.
