OPPOSITION CALLS

Gvozdenovic to schedulecontinuation of the Committeesession

Opposition MPs in the Committee on Comprehensive Reform of Election and Other Legislation today asked the president of that body, BranimirGvozdenovic, to urgently schedule a continuation of the session to discuss the proposal of amendments to the Law on Territorial Organization, so that all Montenegrin citizens get correct, numbered and legal addresses.

Democrats recall that the session that began on Monday was adjourned due to a lack of a quorum.

"Also, in order to obstruct work, DPS representatives complained that they did not have enough time to familiarize themselves with the opposition's proposals. The DPS no longer hides the fear of lawful determination of citizens’ addresses and wants to protect tens of thousands of phantom voters behind thes/n mark at all costs.Given that two days have passed since the session was adjourned, which is enough time to familiarize with the opposition's proposals, all the conditions for scheduling its resumption have been met," Democrats said.

The essence of the proposal of MPs Momo Koprivica, Danilo Saranovic, Independent MP NedeljkoRudovic and SDP MP RaskoKonjevic is that unless the local government assemblies have designated the names of all settlements, streets and squares in their territory, the mayors and municipality presidents are obliged to make the decision to provisionally determine the names of these settlements, streets and squares.

"To avoid possible name disputes that may interfere with or delay the process, Democrats propose to determine provisional names solely by geographic or numerical terms. As the solution prescribes, mayors and municipality presidents would have 30 days after the amendment to the law enters into force to determine temporary names of streets, squares and settlements, and 60 days to number them, under threat of fines that have also been introduced in the proposed changes, "the statement said.
