JAKIC TOLD RTCG PORTAL

I believe in continuation of the EU enlargement policy

Member of European Parliament and former Slovenian Defense Minister Roman Jakic believes that after the European elections, the European Union's (EU) enlargement policy will continue in the Western Balkans, saying that there is no force that could prevent Montenegro from joining the Union once it meets the conditions.

He also says that he would like to see more leaders, such as Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic in Europe. Liberals will, according to Jakic, put the enlargement policy as a priority in negotiating positions and further politics after the elections for the European Parliament.

Commenting on the position of the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, who recently said that the countries of the Western Balkans have a European perspective in the next five, ten or 15 years, if they try to solve the problems, Jakic told RTCG Portal that he would not agree with his president.
"In essence, I do not share this pessimism, because after the European elections, it is clear that the liberals will be part of the ruling coalition, and I belong to the liberals. And the liberals put the process of EU enlargement very highly in their program, both from the aspect of stabilizing the region and the Europe itself, "Jakic said.
