THE TRADE UNION SAYS

Minimum wage to be 50% of the average one

At a time when many European countries, including Slovenia and Croatia, have decided to increase minimum wages, trade unions in Montenegro are trying to reach agreement within the Social Council for increasing the minimum wage to 50 percent of the average salary in the country.

The minimum wage in Montenegro is 193 Euros and is the lowest in the region. For the past two years , increase of the minimum wage issue has often been in focus, but at least for now, there is no willingness of the government to meet the demands of the trade union.
Dusko Zarubica, Secretary General of the Union of Trade Unions of Montenegro, said that increasing the minimum wage was one of the priorities in the work of both Montenegrin Trade Union centers.
