EC Report proof of progress in the area of education

The latest report of the European Commission on Montenegro is a proof of Montenegro’s progress in the area of education and the effort put in this domain, said Minister of Education Damir Sehovic.

„Report of the Commission which refers to the education area is a great incentive for us, and I see it as a confirmation of the great effort we’ve put in the education reform and education in general“, said Sehovic.

As he said, the progress in the area of education, with particular emphasis on the practice and the application of programs based on the results of the learning process, has been assessed as very good in the Report.

„We are particularly proud of the fact that the report focused on all those segments which were in the focus of the reform we’ve just recently implemented. Therefore, we clearly see that this reform did cover the right areas and all the critical points of our education system“, said Sehovic.

He said that activities, mentioned in the Report, such as reducing the number of students in classes, establishing PISA team, introducing free studies, 25 per cent of practical college teaching and establishing an agency for quality control of higher education, were in fact the direction of the Ministry's activities, and that they now have an obligation to fully implement them.

"Certainly, the Report recognizes the areas that require our additional efforts, and I am particularly pleased that we identified the same areas ourselves. I consider this evidence that we have made a serious and precise analysis of the education system at the state level, "said Sehovic.
