RADUNOVIC SAID

Montenegro will borrow up to 500 million Euros

Montenegro will, on the basis of the rebalance of the budget and the decision on borrowing for this year, enter the foreign market and try to realize Eurobonds up to the level of 500 million Euros, Finance Minister Darko Radunovic said.

Asked on how much Montenegro would borrow based on the rebalance and how much would be saved from interest rate reduction, he said the question was interesting but he could not give a full answer.

"We will enter the foreign market and try to realize Eurobonds up to the level of EUR 500 million. The experience we had with this first tranche, with the help of the World Bank's (SB) guarantee, was that we were given a maturity of 12 years, a grace period of four years, while the interest rate was six months Euribor increased by 2.95, "Radunovic told journalists on thee occasion of signing a loan agreement for the implementation of the Institutional Development and Growth Program for Agriculture in Montenegro - MIDAS 2.
He believes that Montenegro will not have the same conditions now, but somewhat less favourable, yet certainly significantly more favourable than the current one.

"My expectations are that we should have an interest rate of 3.25 to 3.5 percent, which would mean a saving of about 1.5 percent, which for 500 million Euros is significant," Radunovic said.
He said the government was negotiating with its classical investors with whom it had been cooperating so far.

"One of the reasons why we have decided we needed the amount of 500 million is that when you have a 500 million Euros and more, there may be some funds whose business policy is not to work at the lower volume of Eurobonds," Radunovic said.
