THE COURT IN THE HAGUE

Tomorrow final verdict in Radovan Karadzic trial

The International Court in Hague tomorrow will issue the final verdict in the former Republika Srpska (RS) President Radovan Karadzic trial. The Hague Tribunal sentenced him to 40 years in prison for genocide and crimes against humanity in BiH in 2016.

The verdict was appealed by both Karadzic and Hague prosecutors.  Karadzic has requested to be released or to be tried again.

The Prosecution requested Karadzic to be sentenced to life imprisonment.
On March 24, 2016, Karadzic was found guilty of genocide in Srebrenica, persecution of Muslims and Croats throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina, terrorizing the civilians of Sarajevo through prolonged shelling and sniping and taking members of Unprofor for hostages, 1992-95.
By the first-instance verdict, the Serbian armed forces, with Karadzic as chief commander, systematically and by plan, in July 1995, shot "at least 5,115 Muslim men" from Srebrenica with a genocidal intent to destroy them as an ethnic group.
