SESSION TO BE CONTINUED

Macedonia’s destiny depends of nine votes

The Sobranje continues its session on the Government's motion to initiate constitutional changes, including the change of the name of Macedonia.

Deputies from the ruling majority and the opposition yesterday tried to convince each other why the provisions of the Agreement with Greece were acceptable, that is, why they were in conflict with the interests of the Macedonian people and the state.

The session was attended by Prime Minister of Macedonia Zoran Zaev and former Prime Minister and leader of opposition VMRO DPMNE Nikola Gruevski.

For the constitutional amendments, in order to verify the name change, a two-thirds majority of 80 deputies in the Sobranje is required. The ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev's Social Democrats has 71 deputies.
