KOSOVO COURT OF APPEAL

Naser Kelmendi released from prison

Kosovo's Kallxo portal revealed information that the Kosovo Court of Appeal acquitted Naser Kelmendi of charges of organized crime and the murder of Sarajevo war commander Ramiz Delalic.

The case of Naser Kelmendi, who was found guilty of running a narcotics operation and was jailed for six years in February, has been sent for a retrial.

Kelmendi will be released while he awaits retrial.

In February, the Basic Court in Pristina found Kelmendi guilty of the "unauthorized possession with intent to distribute, sell and/or export/import dangerous narcotic drugs".

The Basic Court also found Kelmendi not guilty of the murder of Ramiz Delalic, however, or of organized crime and other charges related to narcotics.

Kelmendi's trial began in January 2015, when he was charged with aggravated murder, two counts of organized crime and six counts of the sale and production of drugs in various capacities, which include managing and overseeing a narcotics ring.

He is also charged in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the organized crime and distribution of narcotics in Latin America, Turkey, Serbia, Croatia and other countries of Western Europe.

And in 2013, the country issued an international warrant for Kelmendi, as he has BiH citizenship.
