Verdict in Mira Markovic’s case on June 27th

The High Court in Belgrade will deliver on June 27ththe first instance verdict to the JUL President Mirjana Markovic and other defendants for illegal allocation of state apartments in 2000.

The trial ended today after almost 15 years.

Markovic is tried in absentia because she is unavailable to the Serbian judiciary. An international warrant was issued in 2005.

The verdict on June 27th will also be delivered to former Secretary of the Government of Serbia and to the Dipos Director Milos Loncar.

Mirjana Markovic was charged with the criminal offense of Abuse of Official Position by encouragement, because according to the indictment, as the chairman of the JUL, she encouraged some members of the Serbian Government's Housing Commission to allocate appartments to her grandson’s nanny Ilona Pesic, even though she did not meet the statutory conditions.
