"POLITICAL ELITE ALIENATED" 01. 06. 2018.   >>  16:37 0

Grabar-Kitarovic criticizes the government again

Speaking at the opening ceremony of her office in Osijek, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic issued a lot of criticism at the expense of political elites and called for joint efforts to resolve the problem.

"Many citizens feel unjust because the system is not the same for everyone, the political elites have alienated themselves from the people and are surprised then to see thriving of so-called populist options. But the problems are not those options, the problem is that politics must come out of Zagreb's salons and feel what the people want. The Croatian people want a decent and normal life, where they will not think whether they can support one or two children, will they face enforcement if they do not pay the bill for the phone, life in which the worker will have a decent salary and the employer will be relieved of state taxes. These are the reasons why young people leave the country. When people are leaving the richest regions - Slavonija, Baranja and Western Srem - then it is a call to alert,"Grabar-Kitarovic said.

According to the HRT, she called on the Government for not responding adequately to the demographic crisis and stressed that this is the ultimate moment to bring concrete measures.

"That's why I proposed the convening of a joint session. It was my duty towards the citizens," added the president of Croatia.
