VUCIC THINKS

"People are no longer thrilled with entering the EU"

Serbian majority is still in favor of joining the European Union, although its popularity has declined among the population, President Aleksandar Vucic said in an interview with Euronews.

After he was reminded that two years ago, in an interview for the same TV channel, he said that Serbia was tired of waiting to join the EU, and asked how he feels now ahead of the summit in Sofia, Vucic said: "During those two years, we had an additional drop of popularity of the EU in Serbia. But, we still have the majority of the population on our side. People are no longer thrilled about this, but rationally speaking, they are in favor of our way to the EU. "

Euronews notes that Serbia, along with Montenegro, is probably the next country to join the European Union, pointing out that Brussels hopes that Belgrade's influence in the Balkans could help other candidate countries to implement reforms.
