MONTENEGRIN OFFICIALS

Strongly condemn the attack

The government of Montenegro strongly condemned the incident in which, as they reported, one person was killed by activating explosive devices near the Embassy of the United States of America in Podgorica.

The Government reminds that Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodzic and Director of the Police Directorate Slavko Stojanovic visited the site and the US Embassy this morning.

“On that occasion, as well as in other contacts of Montenegrin officials with representatives of the USA, regrets regarding the attack and solidarity with the USA were expressed, and our strong position was emphasized that this event will not and cannot undermine the high level of safety and security of diplomatic missions or overall security situation in Montenegro.", says the statement.
The competent authorities are making every effort to clarify this case.
After the meeting in the embassy, Nuhodzic said that the MIA and the government strongly condemned the attack on the US Embassy and expressed regret over the incident.

"All competent authorities are taking all measures to clarify the case, as well as to ensure full security of the embassy officials," said Nuhodzic.

Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic also expressed regret over the incident near the US Embassy in Podgorica.

"The president is convinced that all the circumstances of this incident will be determined and that, with full commitment, Montenegro will continue to promote the security of the diplomatic and consular missions and their staff," Vujanovic’s Cabinet said in a statement.
