Zaev: Intensified negotiations with Greece

Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev announced that talks on the Athens-Skopje dispute over the name of the state of Macedonia will intensify in November.

After talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar in Ljubljana, Zaev said meetings of Macedonian and Greek negotiators with UN mediator Matthew Nimetz will be held on November 20 and 21 in an attempt to find a solution to the name dispute, Macedonian agency Meta reported today.

Zaev said that Macedonia builds friendly relations with Greece and he believes that it is possible to find a solution.

‘’We in Macedonia, everyone - the president, the government, the opposition, we are trying to build a national consensus, but the purpose is finding a solution, not delaying,’’ added Zaev.

Greece does not recognize Macedonia under its constitutional name, which has been blocking its accession to the EU and NATO for years.
