IZETBEGOVIC SAYS 13. 11. 2017.   >>  16:33 0

BiH is not the country we would like it to be, but it survived

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Hercegovina Bakir Izetbegovic said that BiH was not the country his father stood for and which citizens of BiH deserved.

But, as he stated, ''despite all problems, interior blocade and breaks – it is the state that has survived. That is the first thing my father fought for, '' Izetbegovic said in an interview for Germany's Deutsche Welle, speaking about the situation in country.

According to him - BiH is going in the right direction, but too slowly.

Asked what he would do "if the Serb Republic (RS, the Serb entity) declares independence, Izetbegovic replied that he would do what all patriots would do – ‘’defend what was gained through the fight from 1992 until 1995, and even with the Dayton Peace Agreement itself."

"Let's turn the question around: how will they split BiH?," asked the Bosniak (Muslim) member of the Presidency.

Izetbegovic said that "the Dayton Peace Agreement, history, the Constitution, as well as interests of countries in the Balkans, including Serbia" are on the side he represents.

"The interests of Europe - that there is no war in BiH i.e. in the Balkans, because it had won it once, 103 years ago from this same city - is on our side’’, Izetbegovic said.
